The Weighted Average Formula Explained

Your final grade is a weighted average of all your individual assignment scores. Final Grade = (Grade₁ * Weight₁) + (Grade₂ * Weight₂) + ... / (Total Weight)

• Grade: The score you received on an assignment (e.g., 90%).
• Weight: The percentage that assignment contributes to your final grade (e.g., 20%).

Real-World Example

A course grade is determined by:

• Homework: Worth 20%, your average is 95%.
• Midterm Exam: Worth 30%, you scored 80%.

• Total Weight so far = 20% + 30% = 50%.
• Weighted Score = (0.20 * 95) + (0.30 * 80) = 19 + 24 = 43.
