Find Your Best Fit
Finding the right bra size is crucial for comfort, support, and posture. This calculator guides you through the process using two key measurements to estimate your bra size. Remember that this is a starting point, as sizing can vary between brands.
The Sizing Formulas Explained
- Band Size: Measure snugly around your ribcage, just under your bust. Round to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add 4 inches. If it's odd, add 5 inches. (This is a traditional method; some modern methods use the direct measurement).
- Bust Size: Measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust.
- Cup Size:
Cup Size = Bust Size - Band Size. Each inch of difference corresponds to a cup letter.- 1 inch = A cup
- 2 inches = B cup
- 3 inches = C cup
- 4 inches = D cup, and so on.
How to Use the Calculator
- Select Units: Choose between inches or centimeters.
- Band Size (Under Bust): Enter your ribcage measurement.
- Bust Size (Fullest Part): Enter your bust measurement.
- Calculate: The tool will display your estimated bra size (e.g., 36C).
Real-World Example
- Band Measurement (Under Bust): 31 inches
- Bust Measurement: 37 inches
Calculation:
- Band Size: 31 (odd) + 5 = 36
- Cup Difference:
37 (Bust) - 36 (Band) = 1 inch - A 1-inch difference corresponds to an A cup.
- Estimated Bra Size: 36A (Note: This calculator may use a more modern fitting algorithm than the traditional one described above for better accuracy)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Why is my calculated size different from what I usually wear? Many people wear the incorrect bra size. This calculator provides a starting point based on standard measurements. It's also possible that the brand you wear has non-standard sizing.
- What if I'm between sizes? It's often a good idea to try 'sister sizes'. For example, if a 36C feels a bit loose in the band, try a 34D (down a band size, up a cup size). If it feels tight, try a 38B (up a band size, down a cup size).
- How do I know if a bra fits correctly? The band should be snug but comfortable and parallel to the floor. The cups should fully contain your breast tissue without spilling over or having gaps. The center panel should lie flat against your sternum.
